theater we chose to explore was Allenby Theater, or Rimon Theater in its previous name. It's located on Allenby Street right next to the Magen David Square in Tel-Aviv.

 

Due to the pursuit of relevance, the structure has taken the roll of a living creature ever since its very first day and both its shape and content have changed throughout the past six decades. In other words, the structure's elevation was once used as a screen on which posters and banners frequently appeared, and by that they have turned the building into an event. It housed innovative technologies such as a dynamic roof that was set on a separate and unique steel construction.

                       
Theater enables an escape from reality. That is why when we started thinking of a worthy program for the building, we decided we want to make it a place that will not only enable its visitors the option of checking their reality at the door, but will create an alternative reality that will affect whomever sets foot inside.

 

We decided that the program should be focused on two key issues. Firstly, it should have a shared working space made for students majoring in design and art. Secondly, since the building would be open during night-time as well, it should have another space that would be able to accommodate a vast array of urban occurrences such as parties and lectures that bring together the people of the neighborhood.

 

Students from different fields and institutions that come to the building will go through an intensive acceleration program in which they will be able to not only study in the building but also pass the night there. They will study art and design and will create urban activities in which the people of the neighborhood could get involved with.

 

 

 

 

הקולנוע בו בחרנו לעסוק הינו קולנוע אלנבי, או קולנוע רימון בשמו המקורי, שנמצא ברחוב אלנבי, בקרבת כיכר מגן דוד.

המבנה וסביבתו מתפקדים כיצור חי, כאשר הם משנים את צורתם ותוכנם לאורך השנים, בהתאם לרוח התקופות החולפות ומתאימים עצמם לאירועים שהתקיימו בתוכו. כלומר. חזית המבנה שימשה כמסך, עליו מופיעות הכרזות שהופכות את המבנה לאירוע, ובמבנה כולו היה שימוש בטכנולוגיות חדשניות ואף הותקן בו גג נפתח שמורכב על קונסטרוקציית פלדה ייעודית ונפרדת.

קולנוע באשר הוא קולנוע מאפשר מפלט מהמציאות. בבואנו לחשוב על פרוגרמה ראויה למבנה, החלטנו כי אנו רוצים להפוך את המקום שהיה תמיד מפלט מהמציאות ומבודד מסביבתו, למבנה שבו תיווצר מציאות אלטרנטיבית שתשפיע על המרחב הסובב.

 החלטנו שפרוגרמה תתמקד בשני מוקדים עיקריים – כחלל עבודה משותף לפעילות אינטנסיבית של סטודנטים בתחום היצירה והעיצוב, וכן בהתרחשות אורבנית הפונה לקהל הרחב. שני הדברים פועלים יחד – הסטודנטים יוצרים את הכר לפעילות האורבנית, והקהל הרחב ממלא אותה בתוכן וכן משתתף בפעילות הסטודנטים. אין חלוקה דיכוטומית.

סטודנטים מתחומים וממוסדות שונים מגיעים למבנה לסמסטר בו הם עוברים 'תכנית האצה' אינטנסיבית הם ישנים ועובדים במקום. הנושאים עליהם יעבדו קשורים ל'רוח התקופה' האקטואלית, ועיקרם יצירה של פעילות אורבנית שמערבת את הקהל הרחב.
